October Athlete of the Month: Meet Emily

This is why we are excited to recognize Emily as our October Athlete of the Month!

One of Emily’s favorite quotes sums up her approach to CrossFit pretty perfectly:

“Some days I crush the workout. Some days the workout crushes me. Either way, I showed up.”

And showing up is something Emily knows a lot about.

Between being a wife, mom, art teacher, and juggling approximately 27 other things at any given moment, life stays busy. For Emily, the gym has become much more than a place to work out. It’s her therapy, her reset button, and an hour of the day when she gets to do something for herself.

It’s Not About Being the Fastest or Strongest

Emily will be the first to tell you she isn’t trying to be the fastest or strongest athlete in the room.

Her goals are bigger than that.

CrossFit is about becoming stronger, staying healthy, challenging herself, and continuing to push past what she thinks she can do. Some days that means hitting a PR. Other days, the victory is simply walking through the door when she really didn’t feel like it.

But when Emily thinks about what CrossFit has given her, her greatest accomplishment isn’t a number on the bar or a time on the clock.

It’s the example she has set for her kids.

Stronger Together

What started as something Emily did for herself has become something her family can share.

Watching Madison and Grayson grow into strong, confident young athletes — and now getting the opportunity to work out alongside them — means more to Emily than any PR ever could.

She hopes that through watching her, they learn that strength isn’t only physical.

Strength is showing up.

It’s working hard when something is difficult. It’s taking care of yourself even when life gets busy. It’s being willing to try, fail, learn, and keep going.

Those lessons reach far beyond the walls of the gym.

Finding Community at CrossFit Townie

Then, of course, there’s the community.

CrossFit Townie has given Emily friendships, encouragement, accountability, and a whole crew of people willing to suffer through terrible workouts together. 😂

She loves the friendly competition, the laughs, and the fact that people here celebrate someone else’s PR just as loudly as they celebrate their own.

More importantly, she loves the way this community shows up for each other when life gets hard.

That’s one of the things that makes CrossFit Townie special:

Different ages. Different abilities. Different goals. Same community.

You don’t have to be the strongest person in the room. You don’t have to be the fastest. You just have to be willing to walk through the door, put in the work, and keep showing up.

Celebrating Emily

For Emily, success isn’t always measured by a number on the bar or a time on the clock.

Sometimes the win is simply showing up when she didn’t feel like it, doing the work anyway, and leaving a little stronger than when she arrived.

And maybe the best part is knowing that two kids are watching her do it.

We’ve loved watching Emily’s consistency, progress, and determination, and we’re proud to recognize her as our October Athlete of the Month!

Congratulations, Emily! We’re thankful you and your family are part of the CrossFit Townie community.

And Emily... Athlete of the Month still has to do burpees. 😂💪
